Great Journey 🏴 Day 673

great journey 🏴 day 673 harris is so wonderfully deserted quietly familiar.

Harris is so wonderfully deserted, quiet, dreamy. There is supposed to be a small community shop at the end of the island. And a café. Oh, and then there are little mini shops all along the roadside. Home-made goods for self-service. Cash register of trust, of course.

Every now and then we stop and browse a little. Here, at Croft 36, we find our second breakfast, warm curry pies and for the afternoon we take freshly baked scones, what else?

We stroll around the island, admire the really cool beaches (and leave our knitted jumpers and rain jackets on, because the sun gets to prove what it's made of), walk a little round here and there over the hills and drive on. We now call this "little sun-minute walk".

A little later we stop again, this time at the temple. Here we make ourselves comfortable with cappuccino and really excellent espresso.

It is strange that in many places hot drinks are only sold in disposable cups (not possible for us!). What's cool in Scotland is that we can bring our own cups everywhere. So we trudge into every café with our own cups, drink on the spot or comfortably in Felix.

What we really appreciate here is the trust, the friendliness, yes, the normality. And the incredible serenity.

Harris, we are in love with you.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
