Great Journey 🏴 Day 674

great journey 🏴 day 674 today we take ourselves - between the rocky cue

Today we take some time for "old stones" - between the rocky coast and the winding and at the same time magical Golden Road. At the tip of Harris we find an old church, built or at least maintained for a long time by the Clan Chief MacLeod. Top location, with a view to the sea and up on the mountain (hill...) with the best connection to Him up there, well understood.

Clambering up the spiral staircase in the tower, I painfully realise that
🏻♀️ I am either too long and heads should not end at 1.81 m
🏻♀️ I don't belong there
🤕 I will remember it for a few days.

Squirming in pain and begging for a little sympathy, I get into our Felix and we roll on, now heading for the Tweed Museum. Which, a little disappointment, is not really that great. There are a few monitors showing videos in an endless loop next to a few tailor's dummies with tweed clothes, similar to every souvenir shop here.

We realise that we neither like tweed patterns nor tweed as such flatters our hands. So the topic of Harris tweed is over for us. You don't have to like everything.

I would have loved to sit at the loom though, craft always feels so great. But what the heck, my little cuddly soft wool stashes are waiting in Felix and homemade crafts are nice too.

In the evening we park Felix in the harbour of Stornoway, the "capital" of Lewis. We are tired, so we won't be cooking today. Good thing there is a wonderful restaurant where we (inelegantly dressed in hiking gear) could look directly at the cooker top of the two cooks in the open kitchen and then devour a few small portions with great pleasure.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter
