Great Journey 🏴 Day 675

great journey 🏴 day 675 we sleep on the harbour car park of stornaway

We sleep in the harbour car park in Stornaway. We have been more comfortable. Quieter too. That the ferry docks noisily at night: okay. That there are cars parked in a municipal car park: sure. That young people have different waking times than we do: logos. And that seagulls produce a lot of bio-noise from 4 a.m.: we could have known that.

If we're up this early, we'll do the laundry, have a leisurely breakfast, go to the town museum and then criss-cross the island of Lewis. All the way up to the Butt of Lewis.

Up here, we stroll along the cliffs in the strong wind, admire this incredible water once again, watch the seals sinning and end up at what is probably the northernmost lighthouse in the Hebrides.

After a long walk and a fair amount of catching up on sleep (we are slowly getting into the nap age!) we look for a nice pitch, meet an English couple and suddenly it is evening. We laugh a lot and learn a lot about Scotland, England, America and, if we hadn't put on the brakes at some point, about the rest of the world.

However, in the evening we have to compare our two experiences: The two of them spoke English so quickly and we plan the following: from now on we have to agree on who remembers which half. So that we can then, comfortably in Felix, put the whole story together.

Or was it not their speaking speed at all, but the restless night in Stornaway Downtown? Or are we even so slow, completely slowed down, dawdled away, leisurely on the road?

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
