Great Journey 🏴 Day 677

big trip 🏴 day 677 when we decided to go to scotland we had

When we decided to go to Scotland, we had an image in our minds, as I think everyone does. Ours was of rugged landscapes, plaid-clad men's legs and bagpipe music. All that is Scotland. But so much more.

We were surprised by the amount of scenic beauty, the white beaches, the cuddly Highland cows, the enchanting dialect that raises its voice at the end of the sentence as if asking a question and especially the friendliness of the people.

Even though the weather just doesn't want to get warmer and the sun only dares to come out for very short photo stops, we are in love with this landscape. We constantly stop to recharge our Scotland account with our eyes and would love to pet the Highland cows. But they are quite huge when seen from close up, and with their horns they don't look so trusting.

So we roll over the islands of Harris and Lewis one last time, try unsuccessfully to watch another Harris Tweed production ("Sorry, I have to go to a wedding, the shop is closed today!") and take the ferry back to Skye.

Here we realise what strong winds and high waves can do to stomachs. It's good that the crossing only lasts 30 minutes, I couldn't have taken more. I just can't become a "real" mermaid any more.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter
