Great Journey 🏴 Day 678

great journey 🏴 day 678 in the morning we are the first at dunvegan castle.

In the morning we are the first at Dunvegan Castle. The fact that we are there so punctually doesn't seem to impress anyone here: all the doors are closed. So we wait comfortably until the car park fills up completely and everyone is let in at 10 a.m. sharp.

Dunvegan Castle is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland. Aha, so it's not a ruin. We wander through the castle with a lot of people, admire a bed, a table, a something here and there. And we notice that our interest in castles is slowly waning.

What is never lost is our interest in flowers. And Dunvegan has a beautiful garden, laid out in Victorian times and enchantingly tended. The weather conditions are similarly golf-current like in the "Inverewe Garden", which we had visited some time ago.

There is a water garden here with artistic bridges and islets, colourful plants and a jungle-like canopy. There is a circular garden that resembles a maze. Unfortunately, we are once again too tall to look over the top. Only the very small kids get lost in it, get caught and shriek with delight. We don't know what delights our hearts more: the hearty laughter of the children or these flowers. Never mind, we'll take both.

Then there is the herb, vegetable and fruit garden, further back the greenhouse and the water lily pond. Oh, and the pergola, the fragrant rose vines and the - haha, they're very optimistic here, the Scots! - the sundial.

Conclusion: Castle as very often, garden absolutely look at!

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
