Great Journey Day 698

great journey day 698 40° celsius in the shade. somewhere in this world. what would these adventurers be like

40° Celsius in the shade.
Somewhere in this world.

What would this adventurer's life be without my own Indiana Jones? Or perhaps MacGyver after all?

Headlamp on and the Swiss army knife out and he saves everything.

This time the freezer fridge lid is breaking off. For months now, we've been annoyed by this massive ice cream that our refrigerator produces. Unfortunately, it's not soft ice cream or stracciatella, no, it's fridge art. And as it is with art: we usually don't understand it.

When the compartment is opened, it makes a crunching noise and instead of the ice going away, the flap breaks out.

A camper a few corners away has no tools (except like all travellers: duct tape and WD40!) but offers to look after our frozen berries overnight.

My MacGerdGyver gets to work. No problem at 40 degrees. Then we put things back together, repair them heroically, are happy and proud. Until we realise that the flap is in, but the fridge can no longer be closed.

So we take everything out again, reassemble it (we find some parts on the table later, when everything is actually finished). The flap no longer "snaps" shut, but everything closes perfectly, we put everything away and celebrate heroically with a lukewarm drink.

PS: I laughed so hard at the beginning about the headlamp. It absolutely had to come with us! And how often have we needed it for repairs? No, never to chase away dangerous animals behind the van at night. Of course not.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
