Great Journey 🏴 Day 656

great journey 🏴 day 656 here on the right i call gerd turns off directly and we

"Turn right here!" I shout, Gerd turns directly and we drive one of the many dead ends to the end. This is where they are supposed to be, the "Whaligoe Steps".

The visitors' car park is almost full: 2 of the 3 spaces are occupied. We get ready for the hike (which here always means: rain jacket!) and off we go: 250 ft down the cliffs. The units of measurement are also a thing, we have to convert all the time. One foot (ours) is about 27-30 cm long (I measured, I have a tape measure in my sewing and knitting bag), so we have to go down about 75 metres.

So we descend step by step and are rewarded with a beautiful view. The rocks here are coloured in layers, like tree cakes, and the birds pose for our camera.

When we almost want to start the ascent, we see "something" swimming in the water. It looks at us, basks in our attention and then performs the most beautiful water ballet in the crystal clear water. We stay. Watch her and enjoy. After about 10 minutes the show is over, "our" seal says goodbye and lets us move on.

Full of self-produced happiness hormones, we no longer mind the slippery steps (oh yes, it's raining again) to the top.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

By the way, we are travelling through Iran. It's possible that we won't be writing posts at all or will be late. We first have to see if it works for us. And whether we can even manage to write down all the fantastic impressions in good time.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
