Grand Tour - Ireland - Day 729

Grand Tour - Ireland - Day 729

The morning starts as so often with Rain sounds on the roof. Since midnight, the drops have been rattling onto the Felix roof with beautiful regularity.

And the best thing is: we never tire of enjoying this sound. After all, we're lying in the dry. Sure.

Slowly we peel ourselves out of bed, the smell of coffee wafts through the van and the View of the turquoise sea has disappeared. Dark clouds colour the Atlantic in dark grey. Well, we might as well move on, we think. And we do.

On our wish list is a small island. I don't remember why and when I pinned it. Interestingly, I don't see a ferry or a road to get to the island. Calm as we are about everything by now, we think "It will come as it must".

When we get a glimpse of the island, we notice the following: the road over there is only passable during 3 hours of low tide, before and after that the sea covers the possible way with water. It is clear that we are here at high tide, isn't it?

So we park and walk along the well-signposted "road" ourselves for a bit. Some braver rental car drivers dare to drive the first few metres, kürveling and making tracks in the freshly coiffed white sand.

We leave it at that, on foot, and don't wait for the tide to go out. Somehow we don't see a fat tractor far and wide that could pull us out if necessary.

What heroes we are!

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

Good morning, you two.
Well, you don't have to challenge anything. 🤷
I have dug a beach buggy out of the sand before. That was no fun.
And Felix isn't exactly a lightweight either. 😅

Kind regards from Dachau, which is also grey and rainy.
