Germany - My love for the Baltic Sea

Germany - My love for the Baltic Sea

There is that special place where the heart immediately feels at home as soon as the salty sea air caresses the skin and the sound of the waves sounds like a gentle lullaby. For many, the Baltic Sea is not just a sea, but a piece of home that is interwoven with countless memories.

The Baltic Sea, with its endless beaches and picturesque coasts, is a place that gives me peace and security. The deep blue of the sea and the vastness of the sky merge in a harmonious unison that touches the heart and invites my soul to dream.

My love for my homeland and the Baltic Sea is a quiet, deep love. It is a love for the old fishing villages, the gentle hills that hide behind the dunes and the old lighthouses that have been pointing the way for centuries. It is the love for the winds that sometimes sweep gently and sometimes stormily over the coasts, and for the countless sunsets that bathe the sky in a golden light.

It's a kind of homesickness for the Baltic Sea, for the feeling of digging your feet into the warm sand and listening to the gentle call of the seagulls. It is the quiet joy of letting your heart rest in a place that is so familiar that it lives on in our dreams. The Baltic Sea is not just a place, it is a piece of me that I carry with me wherever I am.

And the exciting thing: I didn't even realise it. It wasn't until I put my feet in the Baltic Sea sand again a few weeks ago and the waves washed over them that it was there again: the Baltic Sea love. All of a sudden and wonderfully strong.

Now it's just a matter of convincing my loved one. But that's the way it is with convictions: They have to grow. And he will probably never associate the Baltic Sea with holiday camps, summer holidays in tents or family holidays in FDGB houses. Never the first village disco or the sound of guitars around forbidden campfires on the beach at night. Never the Swedish sundaes with eggnog and apple sauce. Never the sticky, super-fine Baltic Sea sand and never the spa concerts in the afternoons at spas.

But perhaps we will manage to anchor our own Baltic Sea memories in our hearts here.

The pictures were taken in Heiligendamm, where we found an enchanting pitch with a direct view of the Baltic Sea and a "workplace" in a beach bar.

Dear Heike,

I can understand your feelings 200 %ig. For me, the Baltic Sea and especially Rügen, with its extraordinary variety of landscapes and quiet places, is my favourite place. I feel at home there, especially in Groß Zicker for over 50 years.

Happy onward journey
Beate
