Grand Tour - Ireland - Day 724/2

The Burren takes its name from the Gaelic word "bhoireann" - which means stony and the eponymous National Park lives up to its name. Lunar landscape they say, we have to look at that.

Before we leave for the moon, however, we fill our "Irish-Folk-in-the-Pub"-account. In the middle of the day, we hear music coming from the open door of the "Yellow Submarine". We enter and are already enchanted by the mournful yet beautiful sounds of Irish folk music. So very different from the pubs on the coast.

At some point everything comes to an end, the little concert much too early for our taste, we set off into the Burren. We don't know whether we can spend the night up here and whether there are roads next to the hiking trails at all.

We are lucky and find a small place right next to a small, passable dirt road. There is not much traffic up here, but peace and quiet and lots of stones. We even find room for our chairs.

The sun is slowly setting, we observe the few plants, the many stones and simply do not see any animals. Not even sheep. Somehow very moonlike.

The night is still very impressive: it flashes and thunders like crazy. But somehow quite different from what we're used to: it's continuous lightning. It stays really bright for seconds. Thoughts of fascination alternate with the question of how the Faraday cage works. Even though we are drunk asleep and don't know exactly how it works, we hope that it will work even without our knowledge of physics.

When at some point the rain pelts the roof and more than calms us down, our eyes close of their own accord and we sleep soundly.

As every day, I enjoy travelling with you and am grateful to be able to share at least a little of your impressions.
I remembered a film today that is set in Cornwall, but somehow fits your journey:
