Hallelujah, how beautiful is this Greece. Our feelings are doing somersaults, we feel like we've just fallen in love. On the way to Monemvasia, we can't get enough of the sea, mountains and valleys, of Greek villages with passages just Felix wide.
The coastal road winds sometimes uphill, sometimes downhill. We stop for pita, Greek coffee and feta with honey in one of the many sugar-sweet harbour towns, perfect for travel photos.
We practise spelling Greek, fail miserably at deciphering the place names and laugh heartily at our inability. "What's the upside-down Y again?" That's an L. "But so is the upside-down V!" "Yes, but that's the capitalisation, you have to distinguish between upper and lower case letters!"
We are thinking of starting a petition so that all lettering, whether on the roadside or on menus, is written only in verse. Where could we turn to?
In the distance we see snow-covered mountains, next to us poppies and camomile blossom. The olive harvest seems to be over already, in every little front garden there is at least one lemon tree in full bloom. The sun is shining and every break is used for a heartfelt embrace. We really are like freshly fallen in love.
What's in store for us?
In the evening, we stand by the sea with a view of the rock city of Monemvasia. But we'll explore it another time, now it's time to take a break for two days. Let it sink in. Rest. Work.
Merci for "travelling with us
