Great Journey 🇫🇷 Day 620 ff.

great journey day 620 ff. the ardennes a highland with beautiful foliage and mixed forests inspires

The Ardennes, a highland with beautiful deciduous and mixed forests, inspire us. We cycle along the river bends, get stuck here and there and look at the old stone houses that are typical here. A bit of the robustness of Ticino rifugios, a bit of the charm of French villages. Lavender, poppies and rosebushes in the front gardens, the shutters romantically vintage (well, they could do with a new coat of paint, but somehow they also fit in so well!

We want to go hiking, do a bit of nothing (which means knitting for me and reading for Gerd, telling me all about wall showers, trisolarians and frozen and thawed people and quizzing me about it later) and get lots of sun. Vitamin D for our bodies, battery power for our working days.

In Monthermé we find a river bend with a small harbour. Here we can park our home for a few days, look at the three or four boats passing by, listen to the polyphonic singing of three ladies on a boat and do what we like to do best by now: enjoy the moment.

On the evening of the third day we draw the following conclusion: hiking is still fun for us, too much sun makes our knees pink and it is an unusual feeling that only Gerd takes part in all the conversations and I stand quietly by and simply enjoy the sound of the language instead of understanding the content.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
