We absolutely love museums of our homeland. In Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey and Georgia, we learned a lot about the people, what they did in the past, how they made a living and what clothes they wore. How they lived and worked, where they cooked and how they made clothes. In other words, about life up to the present day.
In St Andrews we also find one of these museums of local history. On entering, however, we discover that it is only a tiny one. We assume it is a small house of a former apothecary or herbalist.
We wander through the 3 rooms, one of them an old drugstore pharmacy back room (my herb-loving heart leaps high!) and are through with our tour.
However, we are now surprised by the house's own garden. We stay here longer, we like it here. St Andrews itself is rather stony to look at, every green oasis warms our hearts. Here it blooms everywhere, the recently fallen rain makes the flowers glisten, the herbal scent is unique (and I notice by the way that I am probably healthy, because my nose is doing its job again!) and we have to start the plant image recognition search of our smartphones more than once to find out which plants grow here.
The mixture of a small house (beware, the doorways are rather something for stooped and small people or for people with the desire for bumps on the head) and a beautiful garden was just right for us.
