Great Journey 🏴 Day 668/3

great journey 🏴 day 6683 we drive through or over the hill mountains of

We drive through (or over?) the hill mountains of Skye. The sun helps to colour the landscape beautifully.

Actually, we wanted to hike around Quiraing. But a sudden onset of super wind with a persistent supply of heavenly liquids lets us "just have a quick peek". But as we are coming to the island again (we have booked a ferry for the next few days to Harris & Lewis) we might make it on our return journey. Let's see.

It is easy to imagine that this landscape was created by one of the largest landslides in Great Britain. We learn that the road up here has to be repaired every year, as this landslide is probably not yet finished.

Nearby, we pass another rock formation worth seeing: the Old Man of Storr. It was immediately clear to us that this is the burial place of a giant. When the giant was buried, everything was buried except his thumb. The thumb (let's hope it really was the thumb!) just stayed outside and fossilised over time.

We look for a nice spot below the thumb (?) with the best view of the sea and the Applecross peninsula and already know that in the morning we will be woken up either by the sunrise or the pattering rain. And hope for the former.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
