Great Journey 🏴 Day 676/2

great journey 🏴 day 6762 now the wheat separates from the chaff. or

I guess this is where the wheat is separated from the chaff. Or from the porridge.

Some think it's all just stupid, others love Jamie and Claire, the journey through the stones and all the enchanting books by Diana Gabaldon. Yes, dear ones, before the series there were the books.

That was the time when I devoured books in the tram, on the train, even walking on the street. I desperately wanted to know what happened next and only stopped when the last page was turned.

Years later, I'm now standing in Scotland at a stone circle called Callanish, which is far cooler (and almost visitor-empty!) than the Stonehenge thing. Thinking about what to do: Should I touch the stones? Alone or with Gerd? What if this really works and I end up in a time without GoogleMaps, water level indicator in Felix and Family-Facetime?

Or what if I end up in the future? Do I want to see what we are screwing up so badly right now? Do I want to destroy my own hope for the good in people?

I make a mini plan: I watch other visitors. They lean casually against the stones, selfie and leave. No time travel. Phew, somehow I'm reassured. So I sneak into the stone circle (which is actually a stone egg), carefully touch first one, then others. Nothing.

And once again I realise that the magic inherent in the imagination is clearly more powerful than reality. Gerd, who doesn't like all the magic (or hocus-pocus, as he says), snaps a few photos and then asks in his characteristic calm: "What are we doing for zNacht?"

I am happy to be here. With him. With Felix. And Facetime, GoogleMaps and water gauge.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
