High up in the beloved mountains we have a destination: La Grotta delle Ninfe.
The anticipation of a warming bath is heightened by our research: "The Nymphs' Cave (La Grotta delle Ninfe) in Cerchiara is a small paradise with a natural thermal pool between two imposing rocks. Visitors enjoy pleasant water temperatures of 30 °C here all year round. The water of Cerchiara is said to be used for its healing properties for various ailments such as joint diseases or skin problems like acne and eczema." We don't have all that, but we can prevent it. Moreover, it has been one of the most important thermal baths in Italy since ancient times.
Let's go. I can already see us entering the water next to the skittles club from Bottrop, which is arriving by bus. The water will smell like rotten eggs, but: wat mutt dat mutt.
After countless bends in a dreamlike location, we are disillusioned: no thermal baths. The only advantage: we have the car park to ourselves. The gate is locked, the pools empty. The natural pool on the rock is wired several times with spikes, everything is monitored by camera.
Further down the drain. So here. The water is about 15, ok, maybe 20 degrees fresh. With cool outside temperatures, nothing for us warm bathers. So we take a look around and then continue on our way. After all, what do we want here?
"Here, visitors enjoy pleasant water temperatures of 30 degrees all year round." Pah, nix there! The fate of low-season travellers.
But actually we don't care, when we are in the mountains we are fine, with or without the thermal bath.
PS.: The photo was taken by squeezing our camera through the fence, snapping away and hoping to get it back through the tight fence mesh.

Oh, too bad.
That would certainly have been nice.
Have fun in Italy.
Greetings from grey Bavaria
I would have bathed in the natural pool, but it was really well fenced off... It's a shame, actually.
Isn't spring finally coming for you too?
Kind regards - Heike
Hello Heike,
Hello Gerd.
Yes, some things are already in bloom.
But the climate changes are clearly visible. 😥
The weather itself is rather typical for April.
But these extreme winds do worry me. 😔
Sometimes I hope the roof of the witch's house stays on!
I believe you immediately that you would have bathed there. 🤗😁
Is it closed as a rule or only in the off-season?
Have a nice day.
Kind regards
s'Racheli
