Laos is not quite as big as Germany and has less than 7 million inhabitants. So there is plenty of space. Most of it, however, is virgin forest. Only 7 % of the land can be used for agriculture. Rice cultivation roughly covers the Laotians' needs. Nothing is left for export. But the rice fields we pass are a dream. I could stop at every one for a photo.
