We are in Thailand. At one of the beautiful waterfalls in Laos we meet two Americans, he is working in an aid project in Thailand, right on the Lao-Thai border. He recommends the small town of Kong Chiam directly on the Mekong. Here we move into a wonderful guesthouse. It is called "once upon a time" and houses a weaving mill, a dyeing workshop, a sewing room and a wonderful café in addition to a very enchanting room. We spend almost 2 days here, dreaming away. I sit next to the weavers for hours and watch them. I am amazed by the dexterity and the peace. The monotony and harmony. Of the work with the hands and of creating. And I, as a trained seamstress, can of course think of thousands of things that can then be created from the fabrics. I remember my training, the feeling of being able to create something with fabrics, needle and thread. And I love this, the hustle and bustle.
