A day full of gratitude. And adventure. And love. Three things at once? That's really not possible. Yes, today was such a day. I'll start with the evening.
After a long day on a 100cc Honda Wave (at some point we switch to a bike, it seems to me...) we meet, as if by chance (and I don't believe in coincidences!), the little 8-year-old mouse from Kiel, whom we had already met in Don Khon and who had immediately taken us and we her to her heart. We wanted to go to Pakse together by bus, but were separated by the people-in-bus-press action. I was a bit sad, she tells us that she even cried. So we arrive in Tadlo (Bolaven Plateau) at our hotel, she sees us and comes towards us, jumps into my arms and shouts: oh how beautiful! We hug each other and promise to have dinner together tonight.
So do we. Your family, an Austrian long-term traveller couple and us.
She has Post-Its and crayons with her and draws while we share our experiences. And before long, the children of the host family are standing at the table with big, dark eyes. And look. I ask our little girl if she wants to give them each a sticky note and put the crayons in the middle of the table. Immediately all the children grab the little paper slips and start drawing. Did you know how long you can draw on a single Post-it? Forever! And with a concentrated, happy expression on their faces. At some point we turned on the mobile phone torch so that they (and we) could still see something. The children were completely fascinated by COLOUR pencils! And I felt incredibly blessed to be able to witness this little moment of connection and simplicity.
