Slovakia - Felix wellness and a night in Trnava

Slovakia - Felix wellness and a night in Trnava

Felix, our sensitive little boy, whines to himself. He always does this with different lights that light up cheerfully like a Christmas tree. Today he feels like oil. For new oil. Not just for more oil, no, for an oil change!

So I'm looking for a Fiat garage. After all, anyone who drives us around the country so nicely is entitled to go to a professional. Well, while we still can. Because when we head east soon, we don't know how often we'll find a Fiat garage.

So we call and get an appointment: immediately! We are thrilled. I set up my office in the workshop, Gerd checks that everything is running professionally and an hour later we're back on the road. Felix is purring like a bee, no longer complaining and my husband has shed his whole "my-car-has-stress-and-I'm-done-with-it" look.

We arrive in Trnava in the evening, stroll through the summery, romantic town (it's already autumn!). We look for something to eat and fall into bed tired. At 7am we realise that we are standing right next to the church tower again. Once again we have a religious wake-up call. Will we ever learn?

For breakfast, we go to a beautiful converted synagogue and plan our onward journey. Bratislava beckons. And Gerd, who has never been to Vienna before, expresses his desire! So we dream our way to the next cities.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!

Wonderful to read from you again.
I really missed you guys.
But of course a lot has happened to me in the meantime.
Lots of worries and problems that need to be solved, a fall on your face and a broken shoulder, workmen in and around the house.
The costs are of course correspondingly higher than with Felix's oil change. 😂

This also raises the question: What should we do next? What makes sense?
I'm getting older and at some point I won't be able to manage the house and garden any more.
What then? 🤔
A van is also out of the question.
Grandma, travelling alone by car.....
I can just imagine that with the broken shoulder.
Somewhere on the prairie, without a doctor and alone. 😂

Resolution:
I'm still going to do it as long as my kitty and her beloved carer - my stepfather - are still around.
We're talking about 10 years.
Then:
Sell and move somewhere in the mountains to a small flat with the possibility of care.
And until then:
Travelling, travelling, experiencing, enjoying and what I can't achieve, I read from you. 🥰👍

All the best and have fun in beautiful Bratislava and Vienna.

Sincerely, s'Racheli 💚

Nice to read from you again! I'm really looking forward to your Vienna pictures and experiences. We went on a city tour of Vienna in May (from the boat). However, the spark didn't really want to jump over. It was probably too short and we weren't prepared for the skyscrapers on the Danube. I found this "cycle motorway" through the city interesting.

Bratislava was great and Bupapest simply overwhelming!!!

I wish Rachel all the best! I've also been taking a long time, fractured my ankle and am asking myself similar questions about the future. House...garden?

Kind regards from Beate

Dear Heike,

A new experience for me this year was a visit to the market hall near the Danube in Budapest. I have nothing to do with "shopping", but I was overwhelmed by the beautiful architecture and the wide range of food on offer! We bought quite a few things there too. We couldn't leave without salami! 😀 Not every stall takes euros. - Many bridges are works of art and the evening lighting is a wonderful experience in itself.
Unfortunately, the tour bus did not reach the Fisherman's Bastion and Matthias Church. (I mean, the terrain is only passable to a limited extent?) The streets are lined with magnificent buildings. First and foremost the parliament building. You can see so many beautiful things from the water, especially in Budapest. Unfortunately, we hardly ever travelled on foot due to physical limitations.

Best wishes and wonderful experiences
