Switzerland - Our presentation at the Horizons Unlimited Travellers Meeting

Längerer Beitrag – schneller Überblick:

HU Traveller meetings are held all over the world. Switzerland is no exception. This year it is a very special event - for us. We are allowed to report on our journey. But more than that: we feel a bit like the "opening band" of Barbara and Robert from Ride 2 See the World and Joshua Steinberg from Wetzlos World Warts.

We have known Barbara and Robert since Greece. She probably wants to pick a bone with me because of the statement that they lured us to Greece in the lockdown, which I once made here. Barbara, I'm looking forward to it! And that was the best lockdown we could have imagined!

We wanted to meet Joshua and his wife at the beginning of our trip, but then they went over to Tunisia and we went further east. So it's all the better that we finally get to meet them in person.

Barbara and Robert report on their 4.5 year journey through the world with a focus on Mongolia, China and Laos. Joshua takes us to Africa in two presentations.

We don't know Berndt Nording yet, and his lecture sounds exciting: "Morocco without a Plan". Judith Seeberger, who we keep sneaking around online, is taking us to the Balkans for a month! And Jens Ruprecht buys a small motorbike and tours South America. It all sounds very interesting, we are very excited.

To the meeting

The event will take place from Thursday 17 August to Sunday 20 August 2023.

Here: Gerbe Adventure Farm + Camping, Gerbe 1, 6344 Meierskappel

The plan is simple. Come on Thursday afternoon, meet people and put up your tent or park your van. Rides on the bikes (weather permitting) and workshops will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The organisers will be on site on Wednesday afternoon if anyone wants to arrive early and just hang out or go for a spin.

The schedule of the event will be published approx. 1 week before the event. here published.

All information about registration, entrance fees, day tickets and camping possibilities can be found on the HU website!

Our lecture

Whether on two motorbikes, later on only one or then in a van: the journey is our life, the vehicle only a secondary matter. Admittedly: an important one, to feel the freedom of travelling!

Whether at icy -30 °C in the Lapland winter or in the sand of the Tunisian desert, whether in the left-hand traffic of England or along picturesque dream coasts of Europe. Whether in the hot summer of Turkey or in the "interesting" traffic of Georgia: the best thing about all places are the encounters with the local people and with other travellers.

We report on frozen sliding doors, living together on 9.5 square metres, the inevitable sand in the desert and unforgettable ferry trips. We look at how we make do with little and still have too much.

Gerd and I would be happy if you came by and crossed your fingers for our lecture! We have extended the lecture to include the motorbike year. Once again, there are lots of stories, great pictures and a few nice videos, I promise!

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
