Urs is travelling by motorbike. At Christmas in Douz (after he told us that he was so cold in the tent on desert nights) we left him our sleeping bag. We adventurers have been carrying super-duper winter ones since our motorbike-and-tent phase (haha!). And him? No longer freezes in the desert in his tent. It's nice to help, isn't it?
In Ksar Rhilane we jump into the hot spring together and go quad biking. Again and again our paths cross.
When we are in the desert a few days ago, we write to him briefly to ask how he is and where he is ummekürvelet. Unfortunately, he is stuck in Sbeitla with a damaged ankle. Must take his time to get well again.
And because we want to go up north anyway and the motorway is boring, we roll back over the mountains to his place. We spend two nights in the hotel car park, have dinner with him, cook together and during the day we chauffeur him into town for a stroll. (Which, to be honest, turns out to be a short or mini-trip due to the lack of things to see).
We drink a few coffees together, sit sheltered from the wind by the pool in the sun with wonderful and valuable conversations, I knit a few stitches, Gerd shows him a few travel apps on his mobile phone and we enjoy our time together.
Finally, the big appearance of my "Riblusa" comes to give Urs' ankle a healing kick. The jars of ointment have been travelling with me for a long time and I give a pot away now and then. I'm happy to have been able to make Urs happy again today.
Sometime the morning after next, we hug each other for the last time and say goodbye. Knowing full well that we will meet again in Palermo. Finally, we take the ferry to Sicily almost at the same time. We don't know yet that we will also celebrate his birthday together in Bizerte. But that's for another time!
Merci for "travelling with us
