Tunisia - Best Karma & First Workshop Experience

Tunisia - Best Karma & First Workshop Experience

We have it good: the desert makes us happy, I knit, Gerd refills AdBlue. AdBlue is one of those exhaust-cleaning things that Felix needs from time to time. We've been carrying the canister around with us for a while now, and now Felix is showing a warning light: He's thirsty for the eco-magic.
Gerd fills the stuff into our faithful companion. And only a few kilometres later - we have driven back to the desert café - Felix whines: "No, I don't like this AdBlue!"

Shiiiit!

Because we know that the whole thing is software-controlled so that Felix won't start after 200 km.

Gerd gets really nervous for once. And when he's annoyed, he's not the most bearable in the desert. Strangely enough, I'm getting calmer and calmer and somehow know that we'll get help. We just have to make it to Douz. Besides, we now have a bag full of WhatsApp numbers we can call in case of emergency.

So we roll into Douz in different moods, Gerd heads determinedly for the next best petrol station. Annoyed by the many scooter drivers, one of whom waves wildly at us, he turns right and drives to the petrol station.

In the meantime the scooter stops, husband and wife get off, laugh at us and she asks if we recognise them. We're the ones you picked up weeks ago in Tamerza at the car stop, aren't we, you remeber? Oh yes, that's right! There was something. Funny, but I'm actually more worried about Gerd's state of mind. I briefly tell him that we have problems with the AdBlue and will probably have to pump it out completely.

Short insertion: As tools we have a Swiss Army knife, Duck Tape and cable ties with us, which will have to suffice for any repairs. Our knowledge is not enough for more anyway!

So, unnoticed by us, the car repairman makes a phone call somewhere, and when Gerd leaves the petrol station 3 minutes later with new AdBlue, everything is already taken care of. We are immediately escorted to the workshop on the scooter, where they are already waiting for us and expertly pump out our AdBlue tank under the watchful eye of numerous onlookers (and on the street, as we don't fit into the workshop with Felix because of the height), we fill it with new AdBlue and last but not least the master comes with his laptop, unscrews something from Felix's interior panelling and sets all the error messages to zero. When we arrived at the workshop, we would never have expected this quality and technology!

We can only say Merci to our rescuers on the scooter, we want to have another coffee with them. They shrug their shoulders, say something about "Now we could return the favour!" and disappear into the street bustle.

We are more than thrilled again: Tunisia, you surprise us. And Felix immediately stopped whining, now he's driving well and - hopefully - clean again.

PS: Gerd already had a funny feeling when he bought the AdBlue, the cap was no longer sealed. And we suspect that we got diluted or some kind of unclean mixture. Yeah, nu. Lesson learned: When buying, always look carefully and, if necessary, don't buy.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!

Have a good time.
