Actually, it was more by chance that we passed by here on our way to the south.
Ksar Hallouf is an archaeological site in Tunisia consisting of a fortified village built on a hill. It is a very well preserved (or rather reconstructed) example of the architecture of the Berbers who lived in the area. A ksar is a type of fortified village and at the same time a storage castle that was built by the Berbers throughout North Africa. It consists of several houses or chambers arranged around a central courtyard and surrounded by or built on top of a wall.
We decide to make a short stop. The serpentine up here is characterised by only one curve, but quite an incline. But Felix wouldn't be Felix if he couldn't manage it.
When we reach the top, we are - once again - the only guests. I'm making breakfast, a scooter rattles up, the driver of the scooter opens the café for us and we dutifully buy two cups of coffee.
We climb through the caves, climb the one or other roof and our drone scouts out the way ahead: This looks like a really great mountain ride! We rejoice!
I quickly record a video for my niece and she writes back that it all looks like a Star Wars film. Since I don't know the films, I have to ask Gerd, and sure enough, it does. Meanwhile, this topic will accompany us for a few days, including the knowledge gap to be filled in evening Star Wars tablet instead of cinema and date instead of popcorn sessions. I am now learning what "Be the Force with you!" really means. I always thought I was the architect of my own luck. Not so!
When we have - quite profanely - done our washing up and prepared for the onward journey, other visitors actually arrive. We chat briefly with the guide and he gives us a fresh, warm loaf of bread.
Fabulous, this country!
Merci for "travelling with us
