We sleep wonderfully. The nightly silence of the desert is only quietly interrupted by our heater, which notices in the morning hours that the room temperature slips below 8 degrees. Because one thing is clear: the nights in the desert are cool, sensitively cool.
But today it's not the heating that wakes us up, but the rain pelting down on our Felix.
You know how it is, you wake up and at first you don't know where you are. We wake up and actually know that we are in the desert. But it's raining on the roof. What's going on? A look out of the window: Yes, we are in the desert. And yes, it is raining.
Now we think about who will get up first (we always discuss this because the person who gets up first then has to turn up the heating, put on the coffee water and put the slippers of the wife who is still in bed in front of the heating outlet). Warm slippers are great!
We open the shutters and actually see a cloudy sky and raindrops on the skylights. Now that's something! Depending on who you ask, it hasn't rained here for 2 to 8 years.
But it doesn't take long, the clouds disappear, the sun comes out and everything is as usual: desert, sand, sun, happy Gerd, happy Heike. During our daily walk through the desert around noon, we discover the first green leaves on the otherwise completely dry bushes. Well, that's quick! We are thrilled!
By the way, in the afternoon it closes in again, the night is still very cold, unfortunately not so beautifully starry (this starry sky in the desert is simply magnificent!) and in the morning we have frozen sand dunes. They talk about the black and white nights here. Unfortunately, we have not found any information about this, only that spring begins after the black and white nights.
Very impressive, all that! Somehow we could stay here for weeks more. But like everything, this time also has an end. Tomorrow we will go on, maybe.
