First of all: it's quiet. The younger generation would say: "really, really quiet"! So quiet that we can hear the murmur of our own blood in our ears. We have to get used to that.
We sit on our chairs, which we simply place somewhere (there is enough space, the Sahara is big!) and look into the desert and it rushes. After we accept the noise as inevitable, a new noise begins: that of our thoughts.
There is a lot of noise in our heads: the past, the future. What we have heard, what we have learned, what we have read, what we have thought. Hallelujah, it's loud!
Okay, let's listen. Listen to the thoughts. Let them come and let them go. Try not to judge. Apparently there is a lot of thinking to be done. Very exciting. That could take a while!
After that comes a kind of calm. The pulse seems to slow down (but I don't think it really does) and we come to rest. We have the feeling that we could stay here forever.
Every now and then a little bird comes by, it doesn't like our oatmeal, but it does like the crumbs of crusty baguette. Gerd "pushes" a conversation with him, he won't tell me what they say to each other. In any case, they sound exciting.
I start writing, so many impressions, so many experiences: My way of coming to terms with things is writing. Whenever I finish the days by writing, I feel free for new things.
We spend the evenings almost silently around the campfire - and once again thank Xenia and Tinu for the best travel tip: "Make more campfires! We try to roast our last marroni in it and create charred balls, which we then hand over completely to the fire.
At around 7 we are drawn into our little house, it quickly becomes refreshingly cold here. We expected frost, but this year - we learn - it is surprisingly warm and dry. So the nights in Felix are quite fresh at 6 degrees, but no reason to turn on the heating.
While we watch the colour explosions of the sunset, we cook ourselves something nice, read, knit, tell stories and end the desert days under cosy warm blankets.
Simply magical days!

What an experience! Absolute silence. 👍
During Corona and the curfews at night, I also found it very pleasant.
Rest..... when do you have that ?
Have fun "not having to think" .
Kind regards from Racheli
Hello dear, yes, that was a special experience. During the first months of Corona, when we were still at home, we hardly felt any peace. Too much restlessness everywhere.
But now, since we've been travelling, it's all come back to a decent level of attention. But: we also hardly hear/read any news. That is extremely relaxing!
But the experience in the desert was unique, we hope to do it again <3
Best wishes to you, you alpine high-flyer!
I'm not over it yet! ☝️
Yesterday was a little alpine ride at the Staffelsee. It was fantastically beautiful and far too warm.
I send pictures via Telegram. 😉
Best regards, you Bedouins with the travelling tent 😉
