We dwell on our thoughts: The last few days have been wonderful. We were able to reflect on our trip to Persia in peace for the first time. And we talked about the future. Tender, small ideas are sprouting. We feel inside ourselves what it feels like to think in certain directions.
We leave the beautiful Turkish coast and find ourselves somewhere inland on an urban pitch with top service such as hot showers, shady wooded areas and washing machines. Sunny wind for quick drying of the laundry and peace and quiet for long phone calls, lots of work and endless cosy tea times. This time, we decide to celebrate our return home. We don't want to rush, no, we want to write, look at pictures, prepare our presentation in peace and "inhale" Turkey and later Greece once again.
In Akhisar, we browse through the fabric shops again and find what we are looking for: We buy fabric by the metre (and drink tea in the fabric shops once again) because our son and I are looking forward to hearing the sewing machine rattle again. Because one thing is clear: my sewing machines will be moving back into our Felix. I miss sewing so much. And the roads of the summer destinations shouldn't be a hurdle for the Bernina.
A few days later, the journey continues through the hilly landscape of the last kilometres of Asia. Çanakkale This time we leave it to the left, only to cross the new "Çanakkale 1915" bridge a little later, thus stepping back onto European soil after months. The roads look familiar to us, as we passed the graves of the Gallipoli Peninsula and approached her story.
The signposts on the road already say Yunansitan (Greece). Felix and we are drawn to Hellas. Maybe it's just because our Turkish data volume has been used up and we're already looking forward to being able to use the internet data on our normal mobile phone contract in Greece? Who knows?
Unfortunately, the weather has cooled down a little, but we can still spend two days on the beach in Alexandroupolis, in the front row, with sunshine and lovely neighbours. We make ourselves comfortable, watch the beach bar owners set up the parasols and could spend hours looking out to sea while sipping Ellenikós Metreó. Knowing full well that we still have quite a way to go.
And: We book our ferry that will take us from northern Greece to Venice. That's it: we have a date. The date on which the ferry departs. And the best thing: we're really looking forward to it. To home. Okay, first of all to the departure, but also to the arrival. All in all, we are now planning about 4 weeks from here, from super-eastern Greece to Bern.
