Greece - Kavala

Greece - Kavala

We reach Kavala, probably one of the most beautiful cities in Greece according to the travel guide. We have to be careful with such superlatives, nothing can really compete with "our" Koroni.

As it's raining and I'm feeling a bit snotty, we don't do anything today. We stand comfortably in the harbour next to a few coaches and let the day pass. Just like that.

The next morning brings a change: the sun is shining, the weather is fantastic and the city is waiting to be explored. We cross under a large viaduct, climb through the old town up to the fortress, have breakfast high up with a view over the bay in a nice café and finally pass the Christmas market in search of batteries for our tracker. This consists of three stalls and a big performance by the Kavala choir and dance group.

We can once again enjoy the Greek circle dance, the choir sings and young and old have fun. And so do we. Christmas market in Greek. Different, but also very nice.

In the afternoon, we think about what to do: go on, stay, what now? We think about spending a few more days in Greece, definitely the last two working days of the year. The decision is made easy for us: we have an Internet flat rate from Vodafone in Greece and nothing at all for Turkey for the time being.

So we look for a nice place to work. We get into our Felix and slowly roll eastwards along the Greek coast.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter
