We have been sailing along the Mekong for two days. It is one of the longest rivers in the world; scholars argue about the exact length. During the rainy season it can rise up to 15 metres. We are here at the end of the rainy season, I guess we see it, the river, rather with water high. - - -
The nature here is breathtaking. The slow sauntering along does us good. I read a travel story about Laos, Gerd takes countless beautiful photos, one more beautiful than the other. - - -
On the shore we look next to the primeval forest (is that primeval forest? Or rainforest? Or jungle? What's the difference?) Water buffaloes bathing, anglers hoping to catch fish and small mini-villages. I wonder who lives there, so isolated? Every now and then our boat stops to give locals a lift or to let them get off. - - -
We enjoy the sweet idleness and are once again grateful from the bottom of our hearts for the opportunity to experience all this. - - -
