069 - Malta. Valletta and Mdina

We spent the first of January quietly. We strolled through Valletta and then decided to go to Mdina. Mdina is the former capital of Malta. It is a very charming city. It is called the "silent city".

The first of January, however, was anything but quiet. Very windy and bitterly cold. So about 12 degrees and windy. We hid in cute cafés and crept through narrow alleys. On 2 January, two of our four young people left and school started for me.

School in the morning, cultural programme in the afternoon. We went to the fort at the tip of Valletta, once again learned a lot about the knights (I almost can't hear it any more...) and soon also about a magnificent hospital that was built here around 1500. Today, the hospital is used for celebrations, speeches and congresses. Even without knight's armour.
