Great Journey 🇮🇪 Day 701
Dublin, we are instantly in love with you!

The morning starts with free wifi (we park next to a hostel, oops, we sync the backup), then with a museum and a city tour. We buy a new SIM card (we can't stand next to the hostel forever) and last but not least, we relax "very appropriately" at the afternoon tea in the 5-star hotel.

In EPIC, the Emigration Museum, we learn that there were several waves of emigration, none of them really voluntary, often accompanied by famine and, unfortunately, often fatal crossings to America or Australia. Young women were shipped off, shall we say, to New Zealand and Australia. Irish emigrants put down roots everywhere, and here in the museum you can trace their paths.

The museum itself is a stunner; the interactive design disciplines have gone all out here. Here a button, there a turning wheel. In the next room, a light show, then another great video and sound overlay. We are super-informed, enthusiastic and totally exhausted after two hours.

We continue to the Library with the Book of Kells, which unfortunately has no more tickets for us, so we hang around in the gardens and in the streets of Dublin. Watching, reading, listening, feeling the city.

Just before the end of the day, we find our desired SIM card for unlimited internet. And then we realise: city life makes you tired. We need a break now. An afternoon tea would be just the thing. Thought, done. We find a really nice place at The Westin, drink our way through the tea menu, nibble the étagère and are now both full and satisfied.

Ireland, we are ready for your natural beauty!

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
