Great Journey 🏍 Day 282
Our first border crossing without the EU. Here we really need our passports for the first time. And learn the first lesson right away: "Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

According to the ADAC and TCS (the Swiss ADAC), we know that we have to get a vehicle import form when entering Turkey and that we have to keep it. We don't receive such a form at the customs at the border. But since we really want to have such a form (as it is written), we head for the next town. We ask our way through to customs.

Two men and a woman sit in front of an old corner shop. None of them speaks English. But the woman has an idea: she calls her daughter, who speaks English with us. Sends us the address of the office where we have to go by phone to her mum. Thank you very much! So we continue.

I ask around at the customs office in town, no one knows about such a form. There are phone calls. At some point I sit in the boss's office, in deep leather armchairs, with a shiny desk and a big flag behind the desk. One of the employees has been in Germany for years and speaks German with me. There are phone calls back and forth, but here, too, no one knows about this form.

I am supposed to show the passports, which I do of course. The boss smiles at first, then laughs and shows me what I am looking for in my own passport: the visa for us and also the visa (if you can call it that) for Malou. It's stamped in the passport. I am visibly embarrassed. We laugh together, which relaxes me a bit. But somehow I am also happy to experience this friendliness and helpfulness.

Well, TCS, you don't have the latest information, but it was a nice experience.
