Great Journey 🇩🇰 Day 577
The island of Møn is a sister island to Rügen. What? Yes, yes, it was back then, when there was no Baltic Sea and the earth curved and the earth's disc became an earth sphere, a lot of chalk cliffs stood out. Then water was nicely spread over the earth and only a few chalk humps remained visible. One of them was Rügen, another was Møn.

I can already see the geologists among the readers shaking their heads, I've missed my profession by far, haven't I?

So, here too there is a 28-metre-high chalk cliff, which of course wants to be hiked. Here we meet two young men and medical students from Israel who are studying in Lithuania and chat with us. We learn a lot about the everlasting medical studies in Israel and Lithuania, we talk about sister islands and the strange desire of the people to constantly build stone towers or write names on stones with chalk. They shake their heads and want to know why people do such things. We are left with a pathetic attempt to answer: "Because they can?" Laughing together is so bonding. I wonder if they had already observed us when we too had written on stones with chalk?

We spend the evening and the night in the only town on the island, Stege. Whereby town is rather a good word here. But Stege has a nice harbour where we can park. With the sound of waves and the jingling of sailboats and masts, we end the day comfortably, knowing that tomorrow we will continue south.
