Greece - Postcard Adventure in Koroni

24 February 2021

Great Journey 🏍 Day 175

In passing, Klaas asks us if the postcard has arrived. We have to laugh. And explain to him that we need to know when mail arrives for us.

As a reminder: the mail is not delivered here in Koroni, it is collected in boxes of undefined order in the post office. For us, this means: 1. we have to know that something will arrive for us. 2. we have to make it down to the town in the morning (mini-opening hours). 3. we start looking.

You stand or sit around, a small box in front of you and leaf through letter after letter. In the process, you find out who all lives here. Also who has which telephone provider. Who gets official mail and who sometimes receives a postcard from Aunt Anna. If you find mail from your neighbour, you take it with you so he doesn't have to look for it. People know each other.

The letter to us is already in the fourth box. We beam, take it and stow it away like a treasure in our motorbike cases. We read it only during a break in the mountains. We want to "celebrate" our letter and its contents.

Of course, we would like to answer the most important questions here for everyone: Yes, we "made it over" just fine. (It was a New Year's card!) No, we haven't switched our InDesign installation to Greek yet. Yes, it's super nice here, feel free to come and visit, we look forward to seeing you! Yes, #pupiForever Thank you dears for the post and the joy it brings.
