Great Journey Day 642

While in York the people indulge in the Queen festivities, it gets a bit too crowded for us on the campsite close to the city and everything has been cleaned anyway (campsites are excellent for this: best infrastructure) and even the beds got a fresh coat of clothes, we move on.

We do without a British Queen flag. Are now also well informed, the media library is full of Queen repos.

Since this stupid cold is persistent, we'd rather take a breath of fresh sea air, hoping that it will kill the cough.

Along the coast we drive past a lighthouse, quickly stop and take a quick step up. Here, as always, we learn a lot about the history of the lighthouse and the area from elderly volunteers. This time, the elderly gentleman is very willing to provide information, also a lot about warships, lighthouse technology and broken rocks.

At some point we realise that we are no longer receptive. We don't share his love of military details so much, the lighthouse café also tempts us with cream tea and the so-called "Luxury Hot Chocolate", hot chocolate with marshmallows on top. (There's going to be a big bang at some point!).

We take a seat at one of the picnic tables on the meadow between the lighthouse and the cliff and watch the many families enjoying their weekend getaway here: Flying kites, playing, running, playing strange ball games and chowing down on sandwiches. And, what pleases us most: laughing loudly and a lot!

Now it's just a matter of finding a quiet spot for the night, because I'm not really fit yet and tomorrow something very special is on the agenda!

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
