We leave the campsite, have filled the water tank and the fridge is bursting at the seams. Which is no mean feat, after all it is quite small and we can eat for more than two people. Strange combination, as we have often found out.
So we roll into the desert, the 50 kilometres of part-time tar road take us further and further away from civilisation. The wind carries the sand onto the road, now and then we "swim" a little in the soft sand. Gerd is cautious, I panic. So everything is as usual.
Our old pitch is completely blown over, so we find another one, also nice. The old stone road, which is still partly there, slightly offset from the new one, always offers good passable pitches.
As the high season is just over here, the area is even quieter than it already is and we are greeted by one or two cars a day. Waving is obligatory!
We settle in, put out camping chairs, only to put them away again a little later. We realise that wind & desert is not a very sensible combination. Reading is not possible (glasses immediately dusty!), nor is knitting (glasses opaque, sand in the knitting gear!). Drinking coffee is out of the question. Working is also out of the question, our laptops are not survival devices and we appreciate their sensitivity and reliability - but without sand in the gearbox.
So we stroll a little through the sand dunes, snuggle up in our Felix and make ourselves really comfortable. For days we rest, write our diary, read and let our travel impressions sink in.
And yes, we are also looking a little into the future. It turns out that we have some reasons to spend the spring and summer back home / in the homelands. And we are very much looking forward to it.
Merci for "travelling with us
We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Yes. Come home. 👍
That's a good idea.
Kind regards

And then we meet, right?
I'd love to.
You are always welcome at the Hexenhaus zu Dachau. 👍😉
Or we actually meet somewhere.
Thank you! Let's see, we're starting to have a little plan...
