Great Journey 🏍 Day 306
Swiss tourism, please!
We interrupt our do-nothing holidays for a moment and go on an excursion. Into the mountains.

There is a huge mountain right near us. Up by gondola, beautiful view over the hinterland and the coast of Antalya. So we drive to the Beydağları Coastal National Park on the 2365m high Tahtali Mountain.

Arriving at the valley station, we are suddenly surprised: it looks like home in the Bernese Oberland. The entire lift system is made by Doppelmayr/Garaventa (Grindelwald).

The gondola carries us up to 2365 metres above sea level and we are fascinated! We only find the reactions of the other visitors funny. They whoop, marvel and scream at every swing of the gondola, which of course comes when one of the pillars is passed. And we realise once again what experienced gondola users we are!

And then the view! We can see from Çıralı almost to Alanya. We only now realise how big Antalya really is and how long the coastline stretches. Later I read that this section is also called the "German coast".

And we discover a dreamlike mountain scenery on the "backside" of the mountain. The clouds disappear for a few photos and we immediately plan our route! It will go this way. Small mountain villages tempt us. Later we look at the roads on the map and are sure: as beautiful as the coast is, now we're heading for the mountains!
