On the way to Chenini we pass - what a coincidence - Ksar Hadada. There are several of these ksour in southern Tunisia. Some of them were chosen by George Lukas (or his location scouts) to film Star Wars. This is one of them, so we stop and do some sightseeing.
The whole process is quite quick: enter, walk through, look around, move on. The ksour thing will stay with us for the next few days, one ksar is more beautiful than the next and the best thing about it is that each is in a dreamlike setting.
The mountain road we roll along is simply gorgeous. A mixture between lunar landscapes and mini paradise. The road winds up and down the mountains, and on the way we discover a huge dinosaur high above (we don't understand what it's doing here).
We continue to the plain around Tataouine (by the way, George Luka used the name of the city here and named Anakin Skywalker's home planet after it), only to drift off into the mountains again a little later: Chenini is on our wish list.
And here we come to a place that is simply magnificent: an empty place with a brilliant view and a magical sunset on a plain of the table mountains. There are also enough dried palm fronds for a fire. And the anticipation for tomorrow morning is rising.
"Make more campfires!" becomes our new motto! Lara Croft, Princess Leia and Wonderwoman combine their adventuring powers to make me the best campfire superhero.
Merci for "travelling with us
We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.
