Greece - the last days on the beach

On the way to Alexandroupolis, the last major town before the Greek-Turkish border, we pass a beautiful national park.

The road leads us across a lake, flamingos are standing around, the area is simply magical. We can't quite explain how this park came about and why so many coaches, especially Turkish coaches, stop here. The lake seems to have salt water on the one hand, but on the other it seems to have been spared the storms of the sea. The beautiful snow-capped mountains rise up in the background, while we here by the sea have 10 to 15 degrees and sunshine. A pretty monadic scenery and a perfect place for the next working days.

Right on the beach we get a visit from a couple of dogs (it's a good thing I packed a bag of dog food last time I went shopping, Gerd's mini cat food doesn't go far with the giant dogs!) And so the days pass happily with office work, hundreds of used Tempo wipes (snotty in the final stages), lots of knitting and sun on our faces.

On Wednesday we set off as usual: fill up with water, do the laundry (we've found a super clean launderette here, so all the bed linen, blankets, towels etc. have to be washed again), go shopping, have a last Greek coffee and then we're off: to one of our favourite countries, Turkey.

Oh, how we were looking forward to Turkey. We have been reminiscing about this country for years. Of the nature, the history, the wonderful people. And yes, we look forward to getting to know and love the good sides of every country.
