Iran - Qeshm - Valley of the Stars

Iran - Qeshm - Valley of the Stars

According to legend, the Valley of the Stars is a landscape that is said to have been formed here by the fall of a star to earth. I involuntarily look up to see if another star is falling right now. The probability is not very high, but who knows?

The heat is slowly becoming intense, during the day it can easily reach 30 degrees, sometimes even more. It's also oppressively hot and windless. And the fact that we still don't get round to sightseeing at lunchtime is probably down to our wickedness. We enjoy the morning in and around our Felix and at some point, when we get bored, we want to leave. The fact that it's hot then hasn't really sunk into our brains yet. But there is one advantage: we are almost alone. The others are simply cleverer than us.

Once again, we find ourselves in the middle of the hottest part of the day in the Valley of the Stars. And we are amazed! What a geological wonder. We hike through gorges and over mountains.

In addition to the legend, there is also a correct explanation: the Valley of the Stars was formed over millions of years by erosion from wind, rain and water as well as by movements and pressure in the earth's interior (tectonics). The region consists mainly of sandstone and other sedimentary rocks that have been moulded by natural forces over the course of time. The bizarre and rugged rock formations, which in some places resemble towers or pillars, give the valley an almost otherworldly appearance.

Once again, we are sorely missing our drone, which is safely stored with friends in Turkey. It is illegal to fly a drone in Iran. It is also not entirely clear whether private possession is even permitted. So we played it safe and didn't take it with us. We would have liked to have taken some nice photos today.

So we stick to taking pictures with our old Nikon and in the evening, when we look at the photos, we realise that they are actually quite good.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
