Great Journey 🏍 Day 247
This is the "voluntary branch office of Bulgaria Tourism".
If we had known how beautiful this Bulgaria is and how wonderful the people are, we would have gone here long ago at the latest (would-have-been).

We let ourselves be inspired by the people here, they know their country best. So we drive (again) along beautiful mountain passes and leave the Rila Mountains. Only to end up in the next mountain range, the Rhodope Mountains, the very next day.

The Rhodope Mountains are - absolutely unknown to us - a dream region. The mountains go all the way across the Greek border, so we are still in the south of Bulgaria. After two wonderful days of driving, we decide - once again - to go hiking, to take a break.

Then in the early afternoon, in a valley at the very end: "Let's have a little coffee break here!", we said, sat down briefly at the table, asked for rooms and moved straight in. What would we want to look for when it's so beautiful here?

We spend the evening (we actually wanted to rest) with three bikers from the north of the country, who are just as in love with the Rhodope Mountains as we are. The barbecue fire is blazing, the host sits with his guitar, sings and we don't feel like we're in a hotel, more like we're with friends in the country.

We are told to sit down with the bikers, who order the delicacies from the region here and fill up plates for us without being asked (and again and again). They pour drinks from special bottles into small glasses, which we drink up obediently and pretty quickly my English becomes more and more fluent.

They also recommend things to see and places to go. And they tell us about Bulgarian peculiarities, we ask them, they tell us.

Late at night we have our mobile phones full of important phone numbers. "If you need anything in Bulgaria, if there is something wrong with the motorbike or if you are coming near us, please get in touch!

Thank you Bulgaria. We are already in love with you!
