The monks' almsgiving in the morning. - - For a long time, I was struggling with whether I should 1. take a photo here and 2. post it. - I have now decided to do both. Why did I struggle? Firstly, the alms walk is a spiritual walk. The monks receive food for the day, the givers blessings for the day. It's a very intimate moment, I think for both sides. In Luang Prabang, it has become a terribly disrespectful photo run. Tourists stand and push. It's loud and not suited to the moment. I didn't want to be part of these photographers. - - Our guesthouse @jumboguesthouse is outside Luang Prabang and there are many temples there too. The Tak Bak is also held here. My alarm clock rings at half past five, 10 to 6 I stand, somewhat hidden on the street and watch. Women with freshly cooked rice pour out of all the houses onto the street, squat down and talk. At 6 sharp, the first monks appear. I don't know how to feel. On the one hand, I am grateful for the moment. There is peace, reverence in the air. I try to make myself "invisible", to keep my distance. My huge camera does not make this easy. I observe, I am completely in the moment and a little bit I feel gratitude on both sides. - - Even before the monks have left again, I slip away. I'm still not sure if this is good or stupid. But I am happy that I was allowed to become a small glimpse of this morning ceremony. - - Leben pur!
