Tunisia - Camels in the North

Tunisia - Camels in the North

Our dear friend also knows that we love dromedaries. Unfortunately, we thought, she will not be able to admire these beautiful animals in the wild here in central Tunisia (or are we already in the north?).

But far from it, as we drive south on our country drive, I suddenly call out, "There! Camels!"

Gerd gets into the irons, pulls over (or vice versa) and we girls jump out. A bunch of camels, led by a flock of sheep, just crosses the road and the two shepherd boys laugh at us (probably thinking "tourists!" again). And so we run after the camels across the rubbish meadow, the quiet ones are really fast.

Regula is blown away, I always am with camels anyway.

We climb back into our Felix, beaming and excited. Regula is so happy about the opportunity to watch the herd of camels and Gerd says with self-love: "I organised it well, didn't I?

There he sits in his van, driving two women through Tunisia and is convinced that he, of all people, is responsible for the camels. What more can one say?

But no matter who is having which flight of fancy here, we enjoy the time together so much. Visits from or to home are the "salt in the soup" for long-term travellers. Since we have always said we travel "towards" and not "away from", these rare moments with family or friends are also more of a "towards". Towards great connectedness.

And quite honestly? Isn't that what we all long for a little bit? Connectedness? We, at any rate, do everything to ensure that our hearts can beat contentedly.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter
