Great Journey 🏍 Day 302
We can't get enough of the journey along the coastal road. First we pass rock monasteries (okay, two little junctions off the main road) and then we drive for hours through the mountains, always with a view of the turquoise sea.
One bay follows the next. Curves galore. Meanwhile, the sun pleasantly warms the air and the road.
But we are clever: we get on the bike early at 6.30 am. We want to ride in the fresh morning air. The morning chill turns out to be a pleasant 36° Celsius, quickly rising to 40 and more.
For a moment I suspect that Malou is playing a trick on us with the temperature display. Then I see temperatures of over 40 degrees on public displays. We pass a hot spring and refresh ourselves with the cooling water in an extra pool. The Turkish family who is keeping their fingers crossed for us for the European Championship (unfortunately, it didn't help as much as they wanted) gives us a water bottle, frozen, and says "Welcome to our country!" and "Thank you for visiting our country! We are happy to have you." Thank you, Turkey!
We now even find riding with a closed helmet pleasantly cool, the hot wind should stay outside for once. We also have the feeling that we are cooling the air around us with our presence alone.
When we arrive at the hotel, they want to measure our temperature. It feels like at least 100 degrees, and the steam rising from our motorbike suit would confirm our theory. But, cool as we are: 36° Celsius.
Last stop of the day: the sea. And lots of it. And long. And again. The sea is a great thing. Compliments to whoever came up with that!
