Spain - We have back, buttocks and legs

We have back, buttocks and legs

Slowly I'm getting into the feeling of doing distance. Riding through nature on a motorbike. Admiring the mountains, looking at the lakes and just being. While I am carried along by our Felix.

We wake up in the morning and, contrary to our usual routine, we first have a hearty breakfast. Tostados and espresso, what else... The camping café is really cute, covered with some sunshine. We sit between young families and a mum who is breastfeeding her baby. We write our diary and plan our route for today. We don't know where we are going at all, but it should be towards the north and the sea.

First, however, we pass through the entire Sierra de Carzola National Park, past beautiful blue-green lakes, endless curves and up and down in the mountains, we pass through small towns that are all more or less dreary. In one we have lunch (Tostados and Zuma), in another we drink espresso. On we go, the destination is now clear. Hellin. But first we see a beautiful reservoir on the map with a cute hotel at the end of the road. So let's go there. The road should have given us pause for thought. Rumple-pumple for about 30 minutes. At the end, a great lake and a good hotel complex, but not a soul in sight. Somehow very creepy. Gerd turns around without asking much. And we can rely on his intuition. So on we go. Or rather: back. All the way back again. Well, I've had enough of motorcycling and my backside hurts. We just want to get somewhere. Hellin it is. But when we get here, we realise that it is the ugliest town of all we have seen so far. I am exhausted and a bit annoyed.

I ask Gerd to stop at a supermarket. He stays with the moto and I go in to buy us something fresh to give us a boost of motivation again. Meanwhile, Gerd finds a nice campsite near Murcia. So it's another hour on the steed. But the trip was worth it. It seems we are in Fortuna with its hot volcanic springs. Our campsite has a swimming pool with this spring water. The water temperature is 36 degrees and we let our tired bodies relax. The pool closes shortly before 8, we are well rested, make ourselves a huge salad and then go to the campsite bar. Well, there's not much going on. But for a family campsite out of season, that's also good. We pay 22 euros for the two of us, including the entrance fee to the baths. That alone is worth 7 euros per person.

After a few rounds of rummy we interrupt my lucky streak and scurry into the tent, we are tired and knackered. Our backs, butts and legs hurt. We have definitely sat on the bike too much in the last two days.

We'll see. We'll decide tomorrow whether to add another night.
