Can someone pinch me? How beautiful can a cloudy sky be?
We hike the Panorama Trail. Below us we should see Lakes Thun and Brienz. Instead, the sea of clouds billows, nicely illuminated by the sun, the Alpine panorama is freshly dusted with snow. A feast for the eyes. And a balm for the soul.
First I climb metres in altitude, only to walk back down along the ridge. Two fresh almond croissants are still slumbering in my backpack, and my girlfriend encourages me to wait. I can actually finish my picnic bag at the beginning of each hike. (Actually, already in the car!) But she knows me well and divides up the nibbles.
Because nothing is worse for them than hiking with a hungry Heike. Then hungry is joined by grumpy. Hangry is what this state of mind is called. I only recently heard that there is a separate term for me and my hungry grumpiness.
So, once again up a wooden staircase to a horn (name forgotten), sat down and photographed the waiting croissants (finally thought of it!) and ate them. Now we (I?) feel good again, we can go on. Oh no, we dared to take a quick look at the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The Niesen, the Niederhorn and the Stockhorn also show their enchanting side.
At some point we leave the ridge path and walk back to our nostalgia train, sometimes above, sometimes in the clouds. We still have to get down from the mountain and the Schnaaggi cable car doesn't run forever.
What an unforgettable day in the mountains! Thank you dear friend for spending every free minute with me in the mountains and making me happy!
