Norway Tour ?? Day 17
Our funny sat nav leads us down one-way streets, dead ends and finally away from the road over bumpy stony forest paths to a private farm. Actually, the road should continue here. As we turn between old tractors and all kinds of discarded machinery, a rosy-cheeked child peers mischievously out of the door and laughs. I have the impression that we are not the first ones who have come here at full throttle downhill to the bumpy farm 🙂
We decide - ultra-modern - to switch to my paper map and now drive from place to place as we used to. Because the place names are still written on the street signs. Life is so simple.
We realise that we have made a huge diversions to come out where we have been before. Three days ago. But it is beautiful here - without question. Sunny too. But also incredibly windy. We take few breaks, the coffee maker stays in the suitcase and we sit down in a bistro to warm up. Temperatures between 4 and 8 degrees are one thing, but stormy wind combined with cold is another. My shoulders start to get cramped: first the gravel roads and now stopping against the crosswind. I'm not yet that cool that I can handle it easily.
But Gerd also seems to need both hands on the handlebars, in the evening I see far fewer pictures on the camera than usual. Nevertheless: a beautiful day today too. When we look for a place to camp by the lake, almost everything flies away. The wind becomes an annoying companion and we decide on a hostel. And get the full attention: we are the only guests. We notice: it's low season. Or rather: no season at all any more.
