Great Journey 🏍 Day 379
We wouldn't be us if we didn't climb the mountains right away. Wouldn't we?
We are members (or sponsors?) of the Berner Wanderwege and while we were away we passed on the hiking tips, maps and recommendations to our friend.
And she did indeed hike through magically beautiful areas. The pictures she sent us made us a little envious. Well, if you can talk about envy while we are living the life of our dreams and looking at pictures from the Swiss mountains...
In any case, I couldn't get the Gastlosen - a chain of striking limestone cliffs in the foothills of the Alps - out of my mind. And promptly we were there: up on the chairlift, into the hiking pleasure. "One hikes a circular route there for about 4.5 hours. "We, however, shortened it a bit, so our break in the Soldaten-Hüsli lasted a little longer, with a beautiful view and a delicious hut feast.
We are constantly amazed by the beauty, and we often ask ourselves why we have set off. And again and again we are happy to call this country home, even though the wanderlust is already tingling again. But everything in its own time.
Now we are strolling (or huffing...) through the Märliwald forest with moss-covered stones, wondering about damp paths (oh, there must have been rain - we didn't have that much last year!) and above all we are wondering about the many people in nature. People who hike fully equipped for the outdoors, take their rubbish with them instead of throwing it on the side of the path, and greet everyone warmly. (Now and then we slip out a "Hello" or "Good Morning", that's probably the force of habit of the last months).
It's exciting to watch all this. Nice to be here. And yet to know that everything can also be different, simpler, less busy, rougher, cosier, less perfect. Elsewhere in the world. And nice to know that we can enjoy both.
