Great Journey Day 439
While you're here, Nuremberg has to be, right?
Here, too, November shows what it can do: a fashionable grey-in-grey, paired with single-digit temperatures. And the worst thing: we left our gloves in our Felix (yes, he has a name now).
We stroll through town, finally manage to buy thick winter jackets (I think it's getting serious, winter out there & us in our camper).
But then the highlight: (it should be mentioned beforehand that the Nuremberg Christkindlmarkt is just being built up and we only have to meander around masses of construction transporters here), so the highlight: the Turkish kebab stand.
I smile frozen through into the small pub, order us hot Çay and pide filled with spinach and cheese.
"Teşekkürler" I call inside. And a gleam from the vendor lights up the whole grey-toned November square in front of the cathedral (or the church, the monastery, whatever). For a brief moment our hearts tingle, for a brief moment we consider throwing all winter plans overboard and heading straight back to Turkey.
Even from a distance we can say: Turkey has made us fall in love with itself.
Oh, Nuremberg? Yes, you could do that sometime. Maybe we'll go there again when the Christmas glitter is here.
