Great Journey 🏍 Day 261
After we leave the motocamp, the next break awaits us in the neighbouring village. We have covered a whole 5 kilometres.

Thank you Verena and Edgar for the coffee & cake invitation in your garden!

At some point, however, we managed to master the total stage of about 30 kilometres that day. After all, we wanted to go to VT, as they all call Veliko Tarnovo here.

On the way, we get a message from the motocamp saying that we must have paid too little. Could we check whether we still had too much money in our wallets? Yes, we do. You can only get 400 Leva at the ATM here and they come out in 10 or 20 Leva notes. Gerd really miscounted. And only gave us half. That can happen, but we haven't got very far yet.

When we arrive in VT, we feel like we are in "Little Bern". The river meanders through the town like the Aare, the houses are pretty, old and well preserved, a fortress towers high above and one cute café follows the next. The town invites you to stroll and it doesn't take long before we are down by the river and even discover an old weir.

Veliko Tarnovo was even once the capital of the second Bulgarian empire. In fact, however, we will rather remember a rainy and beautiful morning spent chatting and eating sweets with Silke and Jan. And when the clouds finally clear at around 3 o'clock, we saddle up our Malou and finally set off: towards the east! The sea is calling!

Addendum: of course we have now paid for everything at Motocamp and are vigorously learning the numbers from 1 to 400 🙂
